Sponsor Roundabout’s Banger Rally Challenge

Roundabout is South Yorkshire’s local youth housing charity providing shelter, support and life skills to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Roundabout is looking for support with a car and van for their Bangers and Cash project on the 14th – 22nd of September 2023. They will be driving from Sheffield to Munich to raise funds to support homeless young people across South Yorkshire. The vehicles will be used for the event and mechanic crew, ensuring all teams are safe and have a great experience.

The vehicles will be used to transport the bonnets which will be painted on by local artists ready for a trail across Sheffield in October and auctioned to raise funds in November! Your pro-bono support vehicles for this event will help reduce core costs, meaning more profits can go directly to support homeless young people in our city. The last event raised £96,000 which was used to create a brand-new street outreach service for young people in Sheffield. Find out more here 👉 https://www.bangersandcash.co.uk/ They are also looking for a blow-up arch which cars can drive through for the launch event of Bangers and Cash on Thursday 14th September at Meadowhall.

The event will see approximately 30 cars leaving for Munich on a banger rally challenge to raise funds to support homeless young people. Roundabout is going to make the event as festive as possible with a fun arch to drive through. If you have one that you can lend to the charity or can give at a reduced rate please get in touch with 👉 Emily.bush@roundaboutltd.org

Free ChatGP Training for Charities

If you don’t know what ChatGPT is then it’s the next level of computer usefulness that will increase your productivity and efficiency in daily work.

ChatGPT is like a digital genie that can grant unlimited text-based wishes. It works as your personal assistant and researcher that has read 11 billion pages to base their answers on. It generates answers, reports,  summaries, software code and documents on almost any question in whatever style and formats you wish for. Ask it to write a grant proposal, or sections of a grant proposal form. Ask it to write an advert for a fund-raising event. Ask it to give you ideas for fund-raising events that cost no or little money to run. Ask it to write a report or an email for you. Ask it to analyse and critique text or ideas for you. Ask it to write a summary for you of existing text or a web page. Ask it how to do something, then ask it to modify the bits you don’t like. Please get in touch for advice and training on (1) how you might benefit from ChatGPT and (2) how to write good prompts so you ask it to do what you want in the right way to get the right results. An introduction to ChatGPT might take up to 30 minutes and extra training on good prompt writing would take it to upto about an hour. Training can be done in person or virtually.

How do we support employers to host an apprentice
As a Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency, we are one of only a few organisations in the UK that can remove the barriers faced by employers who are interested in boosting their workforce through apprenticeships, allowing businesses of all sizes to benefit from having highly skilled and motivated workers.

We do this by.
Directly employing directly employing apprentices. We manage all employment responsibilities, including candidate recruitment, qualification assessments, salary, health & safety requirements, mentoring and pastoral support.

Enabling businesses to.
To host an apprentice based on projected work pipeline, for example, if a business can only foresee 6 months of work, we will work with them to find an apprentice to fill that role for that period. When that placement is coming to an end, we use our networks to find the apprentice a new placement that allows them to continue their apprenticeship.

Each Apprenticeship standard is tailored to the needs of the business, offering a more individualised approach to learning that results in higher levels of engagement and a positive experience for both apprentice and host.

Our Apprenticeship Managers are assigned apprentices to work with one-to-one, regularly meeting in person to conduct performance reviews and are always available to address any issues that may arise.

Benefits to the Business. Fully vetted apprentice ready for work. Comprehensive support/mentoring in line with industry core professional standards. Apprentice comes ready for work which includes (where appropriate) PPE, CSCS card, travel allowance etc. No Hassle – employment/coaching/mentoring and pastoral support lie with EN:Able Futures saving cost and time. Easy way to engage with apprentices & boost your business and future workforce planning. Ability to use Apprenticeship Levy Funds. Option to retain the apprentice at no charge.

Support a community bike hub in Sheffield

Does your business want to support the health and well-being of a community through cycling?

Hillsborough Pump Track (HPT) is a community club who supports children and young people to improve their physical, mental, emotional, and social health through engaging in cycling.

HPT are applying for funding to support the purchase of an airbag system and the procurement of 6x cycles to support club Ready-Set-Ride activity. The airbag system will provide a hook for activities provided by the HPT club such as Pedal Party and ‘community jams’ that are held throughout a typical year. The airbag system will inspire and enable HPT club riders to progress their cycling ability, and importantly, attract new club members.

This added feature will bolster the inclusivity of our community offer, offering alternative, progressive pathways to bike skills, whilst mitigating risk. This funding will increase awareness and connection with the community, and increase facility participation, leading to improved health and wellbeing outcomes in the community. In addition, the airbag system will allow us to partner more effectively with the local disability cycling group, Sheffield-Cycling-4-All and a not-for-profit organisation, Onboard Skate Park which offer alternative provision to marginalised children.

The ask: £10,472.98 funding for an airbag system and family bikes
Fundraising to date: £3,500 through BC’s Together Fund
Remaining funding required: £6,972.98

Parking Space for a Canoe for Abbeydale Road Scouts

Scouts in Abbeydale are very active canoeists and can often be seen on Millhouse’s boating lake, they want to do more. However, they no longer have anywhere to park their trailers with 10 loaded canoes and kayaks. (See pictures attached).

Do you have space where they could park them? Perhaps a car park or yard. Each trailer takes up the space of an estate car. Weekly access will be by mutual arrangement, perhaps collection and next day return during working hours.

Ideally, it would be near to their Scout Centre off Archer Lane, S7 2BT and they would need 24/7 access to minimise the volunteer time involved. Their funds were depleted during COVID and they are also trying to source wheel clamps.

Please contact Scout Leader Dean Maragh on 07973 887 839 if you have any ideas or can help.
