Support those who are digitally excluded

ClickSilver is open for referrals again and Business in the Comunity (BITC) needs your help to reach more people!

For a decade, BITC’s ClickSilver programme has helped older UK residents use technology to gain confidence and improve their digital skills. The programme matches vulnerable and older people with volunteer mentors from businesses, who support them to develop digital skills and confidence online. This sharing of skills and knowledge helps to increase beneficiaries’ independence and reduce feelings of loneliness while bridging the digital divide between young and old.

After supporting thousands of individuals since 2012, the team are open for new referrals. If you work with people who are digitally excluded, isolated, lonely and who need support to use their tablets, PCs, smartphones, get in touch with them.

They have fully trained mentors waiting to support individuals with their digital skills!
Refer today!

They offer 4 sessions lasting 30-60 minutes with experienced business volunteers (DBS checked and trained), all free of charge. And if T&Cs are met, they even have tablets to donate to your most isolated beneficiaries to use during the sessions and keep after programme completion (internet included, for up to 6 months).

Get in touch today at [email protected] and the team will walk you through our very easy referral process.

Fundraising with Causeway

Sheffield-based charity Causeway is kicking off its new year in style with an exciting new fundraising partnership with Irish artist Ally Simpson.

The charity, which as well as running rehabilitation programmes for people involved in crime, operates safe houses and outreach programmes for modern slavery survivors, has teamed up with the artist and graphic designer for ‘Network for Change,’ a campaign the charity hopes will raise awareness of its work, as well as funds for its modern slavery services.

The campaign will run between February 27th and March 10th, and will offer supporters the chance to download art work created for Causeway by Ally, in exchange for a pound donated to the charity.

Supporters will then be encouraged to share news of their donations on social media, and encourage their followers to do the same.

Keep an eye on their social media accounts @causewaycharity for more information about the campaign, and please like, share, and if you can- donate and download!
Reconnected: Support a Child Who Has Been Excluded

Excluded young people are the most vulnerable in society. Just 1 in 2 progress to sustained destinations at age 16; young people in gangs are six times more likely to have been excluded compared to other young people assessed by children’s services; and one in two adult prisoners have been excluded from school.

From Autumn 2022 ReconnectEd and Brigantia will work together to recruit and upskill local people as coaches to understand the issues facing young people and build trusted relationships with them and their families/carers. The coaches will go to Yewlands Academy and Mansel Primary School every day for three years to help the targeted young people have better self-regulation and well-being.

They are also looking for in-kind gifts which the coaches can use with the young people and their families to build rapport. This could be in the form of vouchers for a meal out, discounts for items that the young people can use i.e. to buy a bicycle.

As a small team they are also interested in pro-bono expertise, particularly in the area of PR/marketing would be appreciated. If you feel as though this is something you can support please email: [email protected]
Supported workplace visits

The Autism Centre for Supported Employment is currently looking to connect with new employers who may be able to offer work placements or employment opportunities for their clients.

The Charity specialises in supporting adults with ASD into work; they use a person-centred support structure to ensure the correct level of involvement in order to empower their clients to succeed in the world of work.
They are also happy to offer advice around reasonable adjustments and can offer Autism Awareness training sessions for employers and staff.

If you would like more information about the Charity or would like to find out how you can help this worthwhile cause, then please contact 👉 [email protected].
