Did you know that age can be a secret weapon in the battle for talent?

The population is ageing and there are already five generations working side by side in the workforce. More than 10 million UK workers are over 50, one third of the workforce, with more over 50s looking for work. This is a skilled and experienced talent pool which employers should not overlook as they retain, retrain and recruit to fill skills shortages.

This employer masterclass will be led by Angela Watson, Age Project Manager at Business in the Community, with guest speaker Mary Bright from Phoenix Group, Age Special Advisor to Andy Briggs, Phoenix CEO and Government Business Champion for Older Workers. They will share why employers should become age friendly and the steps your business can take in five key action areas. With a focus on Sheffield, one of 40 UK members of the World Health Organisation Age Friendly Cities Network, the event will shine a light on the current challenges as we emerge from the pandemic.

This 60-minute online workshop is designed to support local businesses, larger employers and associated age-friendly stakeholders in South Yorkshire, including Chamber of Commerce members within South Yorkshire, Sheffield City Council, Barnsley Metropolitan Council, Doncaster Council and Rotherham Metropolitan Council. Members of the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and other relevant health and social care organisations in the region may also be interested to attend.

An event in collaboration with Sheffield Business Together, Business in the Community, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, Doncaster Chamber of Commerce, Age Friendly Sheffield.
