October Newsletter 2022

October Newsletter 2022

Our priority over the coming months is to work with Voluntary Action Sheffield and Sheffield City Council to be part of a cross-sector response to the cost-of-living crisis. We will be sending additional mailshots to businesses outlining how you can support cross city initiatives helping to keep the most vulnerable in our city warm, fed and supplied with essential items.

However, we appreciate the importance of other campaigns and organisations doing essential work in Sheffield and wanted to continue to highlight these in our bi-monthly newsletter.

Newfield’s Mock interview days  To prepare young people for the world of work Newfield school needs business volunteers to undertake  mock interviews to provide their young people with an authentic interview experience. Questioning in a professional manner and treating students as you would in an actual interview. No interview experience is required as full support and guidance will be provided.

We just need individuals with a passion for helping young people reach their full potential. This provides an excellent opportunity for professional development, providing volunteers with interviewing experience.

We need approx. 1500 thousand to 2000 ft.² (not all open plan) for a minimum of 5 therapy rooms, reception (unless shared), 2 office rooms, kitchen and bathroom/toilet facilities. We also need some space for our library and ideally 2-3 car parking spaces.

Placements and Supported employment for The Autism CentreWe are a small Sheffield Charity that supports adults with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and learning disabilities into work.

We rely on supportive, forward-thinking employers who can help enable our clients to grow and develop. We are currently looking for new employers who are able to offer our clients the first step on the employment ladder by a 3-month work placement. A work placement is for just one morning or afternoon per week, and one of our specialist job coaches works alongside our client initially until confident in working independently.

We currently have a large number of clients on our waiting list, so would welcome any new opportunities and all different types of work.

We don’t expect a placement to lead to paid work (if this does happen this is a bonus!), the placement is to facilitate individuals moving into the employment market.
